Bronze Plaque Honoring Harold T. Andrews

Harold Taylor Andrews, a 24-year-old corporal in Company B 11th Engineers was killed in action on November 30, 1917, at Gouzeaucourt, France while defending himself with a pick and shovel.  A native of Portland, he was the first Maine citizen killed during World War I.  This plaque commemorates his bravery and the 1,026 service people from Maine who were killed during that conflict.
